Pet Licensing

Dog and Cat Licensing

Annual pet licenses are required for all dogs and cats over 5 months of age.  The annual fees, per pet, are:

  • $7.00 for altered (spayed/neutered) pets
  • $12.00 for unaltered pets
  • a $5.00 late fee if the annual renewal license is purchased after March 31st (If you become a village resident after March 31, the late fee will not apply)
  • Replacement tags are $2.00

A valid rabies certificate is required for a pet license to be issued.  If renewing a license and the rabies vaccination certificate used for your most recent license is good for multiple years, you do not need to bring it along.  This applies as long as the renewal is prior to the vaccination expiration date.

Dog and cat licenses expire on December 31st of every year.  If you still have your pet on January 1st, the license needs to be renewed.  Dog and cat owners who fail to license their dogs and cats annually are subject to a fine.

Regulations pertaining to dogs/cats ownership and licensing is covered under Municipal Ordinance Chapter 9.04 ‘Dogs/Cats – Licensing Regulations’.  The Municipal Code book is available under the government tab on our website (here).  Please contact the Village Clerk for more information on the ordinances.

New resident and/or new pet:
