Woodland Prairie Park Planning

The Village of Fox Crossing is preparing a new Master Plan (Plan) for Woodland Prairie Park.  Ten years ago a plan was adopted by the then Town Board, but there have been  many changes since that time.  Changes include the 2016 incorporation as well as a rise in new commercial and residential growth.

As the first step in the park development process, the Plan will identify a preferred vision for the park.  It will also include an implementation strategy to guide future budgeting decisions and final design efforts prior to construction.  The Plan is being developed under the direction of the Village’s Park Commission, comprising of seven appointed citizen members and will require adoption by the Village Board.

The Plan will explore the following topics:

  • Opportunities for contact with the natural environment
  • Creation of social gathering areas for different types of events
  • Educational and recreational programming
  • Opportunities to provide cultural events, such as music, dance or theater events
  • Infrastructure issues including access to the park and connectivity to neighborhoods
  • Design concepts and placement of lighting, sidewalks and landscaping
  • Sustainable design practices for specific sites and projects
  • Other opportunities brought forth during the planning process
