The Fox Crossing Parks and Recreation Department is responsible for the development and maintenance of the village’s parks, trails, and natural areas. There are sixteen parks located throughout the Village of Fox Crossing, along with five open space areas and over twenty miles of trails. The department is also responsible for operating the Fox Crossing Community Center.

Along with maintaining the grounds and facilities mentioned above, the parks and recreation department is in charge of the development and promotion of recreation programs and special events. Year-round programs are offered to youth, teens and adults.

Community Update

Our hearts continue to be with everyone whose homes and lives were impacted by last week’s tornado. We know many families are still facing difficult days, weeks, and months ahead, and our thoughts remain with our community as recovery continues.
🔹Parks
Palisades Park will remain closed for an extended period as cleanup efforts continue. The park sustained catastrophic damage and will require significant time to safely clean up and repair. The playground is not safe for use, and we ask everyone to please refrain from entering the park while crews continue their work.
Wittmann Park is currently being used as a drop-off site for the vegetative debris being collected from roadsides throughout the community. Due to the significant volume of material and the heavy truck traffic entering and exiting the park, visitors are encouraged to use caution if they choose to visit. At this time, we recommend visiting one of our other park locations while cleanup operations continue.
🔹Community Center
The Community Center also sustained significant damage and is no longer usable. This facility serves as the home for approximately 90% of our indoor recreation programs and events, provides a polling location for some residents, and hosts countless private gatherings throughout the year. The loss of this space has a significant impact on our operations and the services we provide.
🔹Fall/Winter Recreation Programs
Despite these challenges, our staff is working hard to identify alternative locations so we can continue offering recreation programs to our community. Because the situation continues to evolve, we will not be printing and mailing our Fall/Winter Activity Guide this year. Instead, program information, registration details, and updates will be shared through our website and social media channels. Please keep an eye out for ongoing updates.
🔹Thank You for Your Patience
We appreciate your patience as our staff continues to respond to the impacts of the storm. While much of our west-side park system was unaffected, our east-side parks and facilities sustained extensive damage that require a great deal of our team’s time and attention.
We remain committed to maintaining our parks, facilities, and projects, but some services and timelines will be delayed as we prioritize storm recovery efforts. We appreciate your understanding as calls, emails, and service requests are addressed based on urgency and available resources.

The support our community has shown over the past week has been truly inspiring. Thank you to the many volunteers who have stepped forward to help, including those who have assisted in our parks. We are especially grateful to our neighboring communities for their support, particularly the Greenville, WI – Parks, Recreation and Forestry Department, whose assistance has been invaluable during this recovery.
Finally, thank you to our Parks & Recreation staff. They have worked tirelessly since the storm struck, cleaning up, assisting our Street Department, helping wherever needed, and planning for the recovery ahead. Their dedication to serving our community has been extraordinary.
